Raising Jo Jo The Crow

I know we have not posted in a couple of days. But we are working on so many administrative duties that it was hard to create content. So we are sharing a video that we have made using short shots of the crow. Rearing Jo Jo has been awesome! This video is over the last few months. We have fledged him after we rescued him as a chick. As of now, he lives with the iguanas at night. Most days he free flies aroung the farm where his family comes to visit. For this reason, we thought he would fly off but I suppose he is socialized. It was fun getting him to this point. We had to show him how to eat and live. Eventually, he was able to go off on his own. But the Mocking Birds had another thing in mind. So it took a while for them to settle down. Then the hawk came. He can hold his own with him now too. Click to see the last few months that we have had raising this awesome bird...(Corvus brachyrhynchos) American crows are protected internationally by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. Despite attempts by humans in some areas to drive away or eliminate these birds, they remain widespread and very common. The number of individual American crows is estimated by BirdLife International to be around 31,000,000. We want very much for Jo-Jo to go off to other crows. One day he may go off with his own family, which do come for daily visits and only live three Oak trees away. Until then, he enjoys his time with Ken. Crazy Critters Inc. was established to provide non-domestic, non-releasable animals with a safe and permanent home. The sanctuary has adopted animals including reptiles, birds, and assorted wildlife. Once brought to the facility, these exotic animals are housed in naturalistic settings. Allowing propagation that is used for conservation. Currently, this facility houses species of animals listed on CITES. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora is an international treaty to prevent species from becoming endangered or extinct because of international trade. Adding, the Crazy Critters organization has produced offspring from species currently found on the IUCN's Red List. Established in 1964, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species has evolved to become the world’s most comprehensive information source on the global conservation status of animal, fungi and plant species. Crazy Critters Inc. is a self-funded organization that depends on the greenhouse nursery to pay for the cost of housing exotic animals. The facility grows and sells species of plants such as succulent and cactus to support the care of the animals. Many too are listed on the IUCN's Redlist.
